Vaisakhi

This weekend I was invited by Amrit and her friend Harnish to join them and celebrate the birth of their religion [Sikh]. They call this day Vaisakhi (hopefully spelled right).
The day started very early as I had to be in Southhall, which is in west London. You can compare the duration of travel with going from Amsterdam to Rotterdam. And I had to be there before 10.30.
After a tasty roti, we were ready to go and see the wagon with the holy book.
Ill try to guide you through some pictures:

On this photo you can see four very religious looking girls. (note: very religious looking) From right: Amrit - Amrit's friend Harnish - Little Sister of Harnish named Pavnish and her friend.

On this picture you can see people cleaning up the road for the holy book to pass. The Holy Book is one of the most important item in the Sikh Religion if not the most important. In the background you can also spot the pray house of the sikhs, aka Gurudwar.

Overseas Visitors

On Monday our long expected quests arrived. Mr Hulskemper [Course Manager] and Mr Logtmeijer [Tutor Retail]

basically We had a small conversation concerning our workplacement and

thats it. After that we went down to Piccadilly Circus and had our Lunch. which tasted rather nice.

We also visited some expensive streets and checked out some really good looking items.

Mr logtmeijer had a hard time not buying anything made of kashmir.

But we had fun. After an hour or four we dropped them of at Victoria station where they took their train back to the airport.

Ofcourse to accompany this story i have some pictures.

Birthday Party

Eddie, which is one of the trainers had is birthday celebrated in office (and afterwards in a pub)

Tyrone which is also a trainer had to go on a quest to find him suitable gift. The gift was shocking :D

Check out the following pictures to see some of people that work here. And the gift ofcourse.

This man's name is Duncan Beal. Also known as the Guru. Well actually I am the only one who call him that.
He basically knows everything about education and anything related to that.

Any queries concerning btec, a-levels or what ever course it may be, I always ask this man.

She is a nice lady, She always seems to be having fun. Also Duncan has blacklisted her for her deeds.

She usually messes up Duncan's desk.

Pranks History (partially) : removing the ball from mouse, taping shoes together. Hiding the phone. Taping booklets to desks, change locations of different items and the list continues

Well there is nothing bad to be said about her. She is very nice and helpful.

I have always seen her laughing.

This is Jenny and she is the boss of both of my trainers. Head of the Europe and America's department. She is very nice and always help us around.

In the Back you can spot Vince. With this guy, a conversation can be quite a fun. He is alway making jokes and he is ready a very interesting French book at this moment. ( dont ask for details)

So on the left you find eddie, it was his birthday. He is our trainer and keeps us busy. He always making jokes andis always busy visiting foreigner countries for 'business' purposes.

Nextto him we have Suzy. She is very kind. Always working and focussing on what she has to do.

I have performed some smaller activities for her aswell.

This Afrikaan here is also a trainer. Called Tyrone. This guy is really cool to hang around with. We are always fooling around and don't really care what everyone else thinks. He is also teached me using some cool design tools. [ he was orignally a webdesigner and made the one the of the Audi websites ]

Next to him we have Gail. She is a Kiwi (from New Zeeland). She is very kind and a very busy lady.

This is Eddie opening his present.

as you can see he was quite suprised :D

And some other pictures:

A day Out

So it has been a while ago, when i updated my blog. That is way i am posting some pictures i took during my 'walk' through london.

These two buildings look great, I think the one on right has even been awarded (the designer ofcourse)

The weather here is not too 'shabby'. we are very happy when it turns around 11 degrees. Nothing compared to those pieepss in portugal. But still alive so that good.

Last but not least, a panorama picture taken and produced by me, with the london bridge in the back.

London Underground

So here is something i see, use and touch every day. The trains in the London Underground.

Narrow, warm and boring. But that the fastest way into London, it takes me only 1.10 hour to reach Edexcel, this; when i am lucky and there are no delays.

But got i have no choice so...

Fun In London

So here you can see a typical british market in central London.

It seems quite boring, and to tell you to truth they are.

We just went there to get some food.

Convent Garden, No thanks

So for a change we used the Covent Garden Underground station. I saw this board telling that this staircase has 193 steps. I reckoned that this shouldn't be a big deal.

Well time proved otherwise, 193 steps are quite a lot !

Especially if the stair case is turning and turning and turning.

In the end I did have a ' out of bed' hairstyle

and i got my daily excersice

But using the staircase at Covent Garden!

No Thanks!

EdExcel in London

So it seemed like and good idea to check out where EdExcel is located before starting at EdExcel. We had to take the tube to reach the adress.

It was a easy to find, because we had a very accurate map of the Londons' Tube
See Below

After a while looking around we found the Edexcel building. It looked quite nice I have to say.

Arriving in London

After flying an hour crossing the fields, rivers and the sea, we arrived at Gatwick Airport.
To be honest the Gatwick airport like the A'dam Central Station. It look kinda cheap and unfinished.

We took the National Express and after 30 minutes we finally arived at the (final) destination.

Orange Jet

I have flown with quite a lot of airlines, but i hadnt flown with easy jet yet. So that finally happened.

My Experience with easyjet so far; Cheap - Easy and Lame.

But I am not complaining :>)

Left Holland

Thursday Afternoon I had to leave Holland. Departed at Schiphol around half past two, an hour later we landed on Gatwick Airport.

So here a pic taken on schiphol airport before check-in

Started Packing

So today, one day before departure it was finally time to pack in my luggage.
I can have a suitcase of 20 kg and about 7 kg as hand luggage . At this moment it seems like i can manage it within those 20 kg.

I think there should be some kind of regulation that can compensate for the light weight of the person traveling. (like me)
